Nordstrom Rack shopping spree

Nordstrom Rack shopping spree

by Sophie on September 30, 2010

Well, spending anything over $50 is a spree to me… lol!  But I did fork out $172 on three items on my recent trip to Nordstrom Rack.  Just went on a spree at Urban Outfitters a few weeks ago but couldn’t help myself.  Oops.  So, there is a new Nordstrom Rack that opened locally earlier this month and of course, I had to check it out.  The funny thing is I had bad a terrible pain in my left shoulder blade all morning but it magically disappeared the moment I walked into the store.  I tell you, the power of shopping.  It literally is therapeutic.  Hahaha.

item #1:  I usually don’t even bother purchasing an item more than $50 unless they are killer shoes or an item is on sale but even then I hesitate.  Being cheap?  No, just being sensible like all you frugalistas.  Anyway, I got seriously fixated on this Miss Sixty jacket hanging on the circle rack of outerwear… in the most gorgeous shade of maroon I’ve ever seen.  The color looks almost black in certain lighting.  The quality is fab.  Got it for $99.97 $258.  And boy am I stoked!  What’cha think?

item #2: Max Studio dress in an Olive color which has a touch of military vibe.  Very comfy and slightly snug.  I just have to remember not to gorge myself when wearing this dress.  Wondering what shoes to wear it with.

item #3: These cargo pants are not the best quality but for $20, heck, it’s a steal!

What’s your latest indulgence item that you bought?  And was it on sale?  Do tell!

Mossism

by Sophie on September 20, 2010

Kate Moss still tops the list of most stylish celebs.  She’s been effortlessly yet ingeniously mixing highs & lows before anyone even knew who she was.  Whether she is decked out in whether it be a couture dress, running in sneakers, or a cheap vintage tee, there is always a nonchalant demeanor about her that I love so much.  I wanna know, who’s style do you admire?

Gray’s Anatomy

Valerie dress courtesy of Ellelauri, Dollhouse Chileo leopard boots, Deena & Ozzy clutch from Urban Outfitters

I’m head-over-heels with the Valerie dress ($96) from Ellelauri.  The gray mini dress plus the comfort factor make me scream “I luv you baby, Valerie”.  Hahaha.  Both Liz and Lauri, the founder of Ellelauri, really know their stuff when it comes to creating dresses.  They were kind enough to let me pick out three dresses from their lovely collection and you can imagine how thrilled I was and even more thrilled when I got to try them on.  To sum it up in three words, the dresses are ever-so-chic, elegant, & comfortable all at the same time.

If you haven’t entered yet, go ahead and enter right now for a chance to win this amazing dress.  You know you deserve it!  I’m a bonafied gray luver but the dress also comes in black and ivory.  And stay tuned for more chic Ellelauri dresses to be featured on this blog.  Oh, those leopard ankle boots are from Dollhouse if you are interested.

Miu Miu-esque platform mary janes

by Sophie on August 21, 2010

Are any of you lucky enough to own a pair of Miu Miu mary jane platforms?  I’ve been searching for similar pairs for a while without success.  The sky high, thick, chunky, retro mary janes in the style of Miu Miu’s are hard to come by.  Then I came across these Mary Jane Posy Platform Pumps from Forever 21.  So I rushed to the local store to try them out but of course, none available.  What a bummer.

Seriously debating whether to get these or not.  The price is just right at $25.80 and super adorable to say the least!  So, what do you think?  Have you seen other comparable pairs… under $50?  Please give me a shout.

tank + vest + jeggings

by Sophie on August 12, 2010

One of the hardest decisions in life is to figure out what to eat.  lol.  Made a quick stop at the Whole Foods market to grab a bite for lunch.  I try to eat organic food as much as I can and this is where I like to grocery shop.

Notice that many of the shots taken are with coffee in my hand. Not carrying coffee for me is like smokers without a cigarette. As far as my outfit goes it’s pretty basic. I really wanted to layer more but only managed to pull off a vest over a tank due to the boiling temp of 98°! Should’ve opted for shorts but the jeggings kept me comfy.

I’m fortunate to say that 90% of my diet is veggies, fruits, grains without being on a diet.  Just need to cut down on white rice & salt.

Bought my 1st pair of denim leggings (aka. jeggings) from Charlotte Russe.  These are not quite as snug as leggings but rather look more like jeans which is nice.  I can’t find an exact pair but this one is pretty close with faux-pockets.

Hat & tank from Target, H&M vest, Charlotte Russe denim leggings, Via Spiga clogs, Gianni Bini shoulder bag

Natural beauty…

Helena Christensen (in ARENA, summer 1991)

Helena is so beautiful… a freak of nature.  I remember gazing through page after page of her photos in fashion mags.  Good ol’ times.  There are no girls out there today like the 90′s supermodels.  That’s for sure!
